Fall in Love with Pre-Fall 2016 – 12 of the Biggest Trends

Although the Fall runway shows and new collections have long since been shown, if you’ve been shopping lately you will have noticed pre-Fall offerings, seen many months ago on the runways, emerging in your fave stores. We don’t want summer to end however the only good thing about summer coming to a close is the start of Fall fashion ! …arguably any fashion guy or girl’s fave season. Cue sensuous sweaters, beautiful boots and wonderful new trends in wraps.

Here’s a look at 12 upcoming trends that were prevalent across many designers’ collections for Fall 2016.

Animal Print Coats

A classic. Designers like Sonia Rykiel, Maison Margiela, Alexander Wang and Rochas have included this new trend in their pre-Fall 2016 collections.

Asymmetrical Hemlines

We saw this trend in the runway shows of Jason Wu, Victoria Beckham, Escada and also Elizabeth and James. Asymmetrical hemlines create an interesting and beautiful detail for your eye to look at and also add movement to the garment.

Canadian Tuxedos

For any Americans or Europeans reading this a “Canadian Tuxedo” is denim on denim. Paring denim on denim isn’t anything new, however collections this Fall from Burberry, Mugler, Tomas Maier, Givenchy and Chloe are revamping this classic with darker denim and a closer, more tailored fit.

Metallic Pleated Skirts

PLEATS ARE BACK ! We are seeing this flirty and fun trend in collections from Phillip Lim, Zac Posen, Nicole Miller and Gucci to just name a few prevalent ones. Midi length skirts are also the trend come this Fall.

All Over Prints

The ’70s trend remains as strong as ever, and we’re starting to wonder if it’s even a trend anymore given its prevalence over so many seasons. This decade has been an inspiration for many designers and has been reflected in collections for many seasons long before Fall 2016 – the fabric designers at Brooks Brothers, Giorgio Armani, Erdem, Bottega Venata and Red Valentino have all been inspired by this decade once again and it is reflected in the midi length dresses, with high buttoned collars, long sleeves, and all over prints.

Orange and Wine inspired colors

Yet another reference to 70s inspired details, these two trendy colors for Fall 2016 were ‘staple colors’ in the 70s. You will see these two colors paired together in collections from Alice + Olivia, Prabal Grung and Tory Burch.

Sheer Sleeves

Monique Lhuiller, Max Mara and Chanel have all showcased the peekaboo effect of sheer sleeves for pre-Fall 2016.

Shoulder Cut-Outs

This is a trend from Summer that doesn’t seem to be leaving any time soon. Collections from Opening Ceremony, J.Mendel, Versace and Jonathan Simkhai all have elements of this shoulder baring style.

Slip Dresses

I can’t say the 90s are ‘coming back’ as this trend has been prevalent for a while. Collections from Rag & Bone, Nina Ricci and Milly all have this flirty, easy to wear staple in the offerings for Fall 2016.

‘Star Wars’

If your mind is going where mine did when compiling this list, I was a bit perplexed as well. However when seeing the collections from Public School, Narciso Rodriguez, Max Mara and even Ralph Lauren certain pieces look like they could have been plucked out of the sci-fi world or even the wardrobe from the movie.

Wide Legged Crop Pants

This is the pant silhouette of the upcoming season. You can shop this look in collections from Sally Lapointe, Temperley London, Lanvin, M. Martin. Personally I am loving this silhouette and fit for Fall – relaxed, comfortable and stylish.

Letterman Jackets

You used to have to borrow your boyfriends letterman jacket, now you can shop your own cute crop coat! Collections from Missoni, Giamba, Coach and Rag & Bone have colorful and fun options for a chilly night or to add some edge to your feminine Fall outfit.

Happy Shopping !
